Delta Chapter presents “The Thirst Is Real”
On Saturday June 25, 2016, the Dynamic, Debonair and Domineering Delta Chapter of Gamma Mu Phi Fraternity Inc. held their “The Thirst Is Real” community service event. “The Thirst Is Real” is a community service created by Brother Adonis May to provide free of charge refreshments (bottled water and popsicles) to the Houston Pride Parade participants.
The event allowed the brothers to exercise the fraternity’s principles and assist our very own GLBTQ community during this annual celebration. The brothers definitely did their part in ensuring that Houston had a successful Pride Parade. “Being a member for 12 years, I know our main motivation is to always give back to our community – that’s what our organization stands for. It’s something we can do in our very own city to give back to society.” said Brother Adonis.
The chapter wanted to make sure that they took no shortcuts providing optimum service to the GLBTQ community. The Delta chapter’s determination did not stop with quenching the thirst of hundreds of Houstonians. The chapter also partnered with The City of Houston thanks to Brother. Ivan Prater to assist with walking in the parade. “We don’t have a deadline and we’re going to be continuously supporting pride and equality. We at least owe it to our GLBTQ community given the recent tragedy in Orlando.” said Brother. Melvin Roberts.
The brothers were definitely dedicated in keeping an intense focus on promoting a fun filled celebration. The Delta chapter will continue this service event and provide substantial support to the GLBTQ community wherever needed. Through this initiative, the years to come will see members donating and distributing refreshments, popsicles, pride and hope to all.
